About

GIGA is a worldwide collaborative network of researchers working to address the challenges of genome sequencing across the wide span of invertebrate taxonomy and research disciplines. We seek to build best practices framework for species selection for genome sequencing projects, sample collection and biospecimen processing, and integration of bioinformatic workflows for sequence assembly, annotation, analysis, and data management. Our mission encompasses genome sequencing projects as well as transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenomics research.

GIGA’s core goals are therefore to promote standardized practices and to facilitate collaborations across the community of scientists working on invertebrate genomics.

As of February 2020, GIGA is a legally registered non-profit corporation under US State of Florida law, Division of Corporations – Authentification code: 420A00002659-020520-N20000001149-1/1
